TWO of the worlds smallest breed of goat have arrived at Willows Farm Village in London Colney. Originating in Africa and introduced to the UK as zoo animals in the 19th Century, pygmy goats reach a shoulder height of only 40 to 57cms and usually weigh between 18 and 30kg. Anna Wolfe, a farmer at the Coursers Road farm, said: The two goats were born in the spring and are just adorable. Pygmy goats are hardy, gentle and inquisitive and love the company of humans. They are immensely cheeky climbing on each others backs to get a better view of what is going on thats also why they are also known as African Tree Goats. Pictured is farm helper Erda Ferreira with one of the goats. |
